Application for import permit is required only for restricted goods in line with Consumer Protection (Control of Imports) Regulations 2017 (GN No:160 of 2017). In addition, in line with the Consumer Protection (Control of Imports) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (GN No:82 of 2021), as from 09 April 2021, the import of COVID-19 Home Self-Testing Kit requires an import permit from this Ministry.
Application for export permit is required only for restricted goods in line with the Consumer Protection (Export Control) Regulations 2000 (GN No: 97 of 2000).
All applications for import and export permits, as specified above, should be submitted electronically through the Mauritius TradeLink System (Single Window System) on the following link: https://tradenetmns.mu/.

Il est porté à la connaissance du public que de nouveaux règlements, notamment le Consumer Protection (Control of Fairs) (Amendment) Regulations 2022,concernant l’organisation des Salons ont pris effet à partir du 01 juillet 2022.
Toute demande pour l’organisation d’un Salon devra satisfaire les conditions des règlements susmentionnés et être soumise au Ministère deux mois avant la tenue de l’évènement.

HOLDING OF FAIRS
The public is being informed that authorisation of Fairs is regulated by the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection under the Consumer Protection (Control of Fairs)Regulations 2016 [GN 19 of 2016] and may be accessed on:https://commerce.govmu.org/Documents/Legislations/GN%2019%20of%202016.PDF
The legislation provides, amongst others that:
(i) No person shall hold a fair unless he obtains an authorization from the Permanent Secretary of this Ministry;
(ii) No person shall hold a fair more than once in a month or more than twice in a year;
(iii) No fair shall be held on a sports ground, on a parking area or in gardens;
(iv) Where a fair entails the participation of a non-citizen prior written approval should be obtained from the Prime Minister’s Office, the full particulars of the beneficiary of the fair should be disclosed.
Any person who breaches any terms and conditions of his authorisation to hold a fair or makes any advertisement of a fair without having obtained the prior authorisation from the Ministry shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction,be liable to a fine not exceeding 100,000 rupees and to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years.
Participants are requested to ensure due diligence when effecting any payment of fees to any organizer of fairs.
